As a songwriter I completely related to the musician’s struggle. I’ve got half-written songs in all kinds of genres. I like the idea of choosing one sound today without feeling boxed in tomorrow. This is good motivation to just finish one song and put it out there. You’ve done a great job of showing the humanity behind creative struggles. Thank you for the inspiring read Idris Elijah!!

You’re so welcome Brooke! I love the idea of you finishing one song and releasing it. Don’t forget to promote it though, otherwise no one may hear it. Feel free to send us a link to it in chat. Would love to hear your work 🙌🏾🙂

I like how you weave these stories together so that you’re doing more than giving advice. You’re showing us lived experiences that we can all relate to in our own way. It makes it easier to believe that clarity really does come through action. I’m going to pick the path that excites me the most right now and commit to finishing one thing I’m working on each month. Thanks for the encouraging read Idris!

This also made me think about parenting. I try to be everything at once for my daughter. Being strict, fun, wise and supportive at the same time just overwhelms me. Focusing on showing up with authenticity might be all my daughter really needs. I want to model the lesson of clarity over perfection for her so I’m saving this newsletter to reread whenever I get stuck second-guessing myself. Thank you for this clarity today Idris Elijah!

I loved the lesson that your natural voice is your niche. I feel like that will help me in my writing and not overthink the tone so much. A good writer doesn’t need to hide behind professional sounding language. Just write how you speak and that will help connect with the audience. I’m going to work on this in the story I’m writing now. Great tips today Idris Elijah!

Wonderful idea to implement the “write as you speak” in your writing. Something I wish I knew years ago, but is so helpful these days. Thanks for your continued support 🙃🙌🏾
