Love this. “Fuel or fog” is such a sharp way to put it. I’ve noticed the same thing with my own content habits — half the time I’m ‘researching,’ I’m really just hiding from doing the actual thing 😂 The Curate → Capture → Create cycle might be the most useful formula I’ve read in a while.

I’ve been guilty of watching countless production tutorials but rarely finishing tracks. I like the 3C system, especially convert to creation. I plan to set aside 20 minutes after each video to immediately test what I learned in my DAW. This way the learning sticks and I can build a portfolio of songs instead of a playlist of videos I never watch. Thank you for the great tips Idris Elijah!

Excellent way to make your unique path more focused. You’ll surely to remember a lot more of what you learn and it will show in your music. You’re welcome! ☺️🫶🏾

I realized that at times I’ve been drowning in writing advice without much change in my drafts. You’re showing us a clear framework to shift that. I’m going to start a purpose playlist just for openings and endings, since those are my weak spots. Instead of passively reading another book, I’ll capture the insights, then immediately apply them in my own scenes. I’m ready to break out of the consuming without creating cycle. Thank you for the motivating read today Idris Elijah!

I’m a little late but want to celebrate you reaching one year with this newsletter! Today’s issue spoke to me as a mom trying to learn choreography with my daughter for our future YouTube channel. We’ve been hopping around from random routines to trending sounds but it hasn’t felt structured. After reading this I’m going to make a playlist just for beginner salsa and samba moves, take notes on what works best for us and then film a mini routine every week. It’s all about purposeful consumption like you said. Thank you Idris Elijah for a great year with The Potential Paradox and looking forward to year two!

This newsletter made me think about how I consume content for my X page. I’m constantly watching episodes, interviews, highlights and old clips to find things worth posting but I sometimes get lost in the scroll instead of building. The Curate → Capture → Create idea works well for me. I’m going to start building a purpose playlist for each lane… Big Brother moments, special music performances and classic sports highlights. So now I won’t just be absorbing content but actively feeding it back into posts and commentary that grow my page. It feels like a shift from being a fan of everything to actually building something meaningful out of it. Thanks for all the valuable insights today Idris and have a great weekend!

This is great! Yeah, you can’t create from nothing, but pulling from several curated sources, capture what matters and create some with it. You’re going to do great on X, Brian! Have a great weekend also 🙌🏾
