Not only did I feel like you wrote this for me but I got a little emotional reading this! I mostly like my 9-5 but everyone knows my difficult coworker doesn’t exactly make coming into work a fun time! Not only that but wanting to spend more time with my daughter and helping her grow in a difficult world is on my mind constantly. You shared your pivot from being laid off with so much grace and honesty. It felt like a wake-up call for me to show up for myself a little bit each day. Many thanks to you Idris Elijah!
From the day you first mentioned your difficult coworker I knew that they didn’t help in making your 9-5 easy by any means. But you’ve persevered with boldness to overcome this set back. That is so impressive. I can also tell, Maria, you are a wonderful mother. You want your daughter to do better than you did and to be better than you were. That’s humbling to me to say the least. Definitely show up for yourself a little each day. I know you have it in you to do great where you and your daughter are concerned. Kudos to you for all your growth and progress. You are most welcome. It’s always a pleasure 🤓🙌🏾
I love the honesty and power in this newsletter! I related so much to the fear of putting yourself out there and the realization that no job will ever compensate your full value. My current job drains me at times. I felt less alone after reading this. The real opportunity for personal and financial growth comes from building something yourself from the ground up. Congrats on all your successes and thank you Idris Elijah for reminding me to bet on myself!
Thank you Chloe, and you are most welcome! A lot of us face the fear of putting ourselves out there. But as is the case with a lot of the things we fear, the fear itself is greater than the actually thing we fear. Indeed the real opportunity is building something for ourselves from the ground up. The sky really is the limit here. Glad you enjoyed this issue. 🤗🙌🏾
The is exactly the kind of story I needed to read today. I’ve had a possible layoff looming at my company and I’ve felt a bit terrified. Until now. You really flipped the script and pushed through after losing your job. It gives me a lot of hope! No matter what happens with my 9-5 I now see that even a layoff can be a launchpad to even more success. The long game is the actual game and slow progress is still progress. Thank you for sharing your story and all the great tips today Idris Elijah!!
I’m so pleased to hear that! I’m happy you’ve been able to flip your perspective with the possible looming layoff. So important. I have faith everything will work out for you. Thank you for being here 🤗🙌🏾
Your ability to turn lemons into lemonade is so inspiring. Many people would have seen being laid off from a job as a setback. But you saw it as an opportunity and learned so much during the past 18 months. All the success you are having isn’t luck at all. You took the time to prepare and were ready for the opportunities when they presented themselves. You went from layoff to legacy-builder and that’s so impressive! I’m excited to be in this community with people like you who are walking the walk and I’m now brainstorming my own two hour a day path forward. A great read today Idris!
Thank you sooooo much Brian for the praise. It’s comments like this that keep me moving forward. Knowing I’m helping others achieve the same if not better than what I’ve achieved is priceless. So glad to have you here 🤗🙌🏾
What a great story that started with burnout and ended with breakthrough! In the journaling I’ve been doing for the past few months since subscribing to your newsletter I’ve written about my parents and grandparents and how unappreciated and undervalued they are/were in their jobs. I’m beginning to see that a 9-5 job doesn’t have to be a life sentence! I’m going to continue journaling about this and work on carving out those two hours a day to work on my long-term vision, not the vision of my employer. A very inspiring read Idris Elijah!
That’s great Jody! You’re putting in the work and making space for a new version of yourself. And definitely a 9-5 isn’t a life sentence like it used to be. I get the feeling you’re going to great things with everything you’re implementing. Thank you for being here 🤗🙂
