Yes, life can be busy and we can be spread too thin. We still must make the time to be creative. It sounds like you’re doing your best and that is all that matters. You may not be doing music now, but you’re painting, journaling, etc. that’s quite the feat. Keep it up!

I don’t produce music yet but I live on a tight budget and still crave space for creativity. Reading this gave me a boost. I make sure to carve out little pockets of time between work, running errands and making dinner to do my journaling, meditation, yoga and painting. What I’ve learned from your newsletters is you don’t need to wait for the right moment or the perfect tools. We already have everything we need to start right now. Congratulations on your music production Idris Elijah and thank you for another great newsletter!

I just want to say how proud I am for you for jumping back into music. It’s not easy to restart something so personal, especially when perfectionism and not having the right tools used to get in the way. But you’re doing it! And even more than that you’re showing all of us that starting again doesn’t need to be fancy, just intentional. Thanks for the gentle push again to “Don’t wait, create!” Cheering you on all the way Idris!

I read this with my daughter and we both got inspired. We have started making little songs together just for fun and it’s amazing what we can do with just an iPad and her imagination! Music has become a way for us to bond creatively and this issue reminded me it doesn’t take much. Just some heart, time and the willingness to try. Reading this is a reminder to stop waiting and just begin, even if it’s small or imperfect. All the best on your journey back into music Idris Elijah!

Loving this! And exactly! Nothing is ever perfect and nothing is ever big in the beginning g so why not try. So many people are so afraid of just trying. It’s crazy.

I’m not in music production, but this still resonated with me. The idea of finding your underlick in a daily repeatable core habit is so relevant to writing too. For me, it’s freewriting for 15 minutes a day, even when the draft is trash. It’s about staying in rhythm. My story snippets and character sketches are my underlicks and I’m building a library of inspiration over time. Thank you for the fresh perspective Idris Elijah!
