I definitely related to this with my painting. I’ve got sketchbooks full of half-finished canvasses and ideas that never went anywhere. After reading this I can see I’ve been mistaking volume for progress. I’m committed to slowing down and focus on finishing the one thing that will move things forward. l just looked at my own unfinished projects folder and realized it’s basically a mirror of your year. Half-written essays, a couple of story drafts and a series of journal entries I never finished. This makes me want to slow down and choose the one thing that feels essential. I’m going to focus on finishing a short story this week by using your approach as my guide.
