Your story about having eight folders and not knowing which to prioritize resonated with me. I often feel like I’m juggling a million things at once! Projects for work, my daughter’s activities and personal creative pursuits with whatever time is left. It’s a good reminder that clarity beats quantity. I’m going to apply this in my life by choosing one meaningful creative project to finish this month instead of letting everything pile up. Thank you Idris Elijah and enjoy the holiday!

You too?!?! This is incredible. Feel like I struck a cord today. Seems like we creative are always battling with clarity. You have a full schedule so I know it can be difficult to make time for yourself, but it sounds like you’re putting in the effort which is incredible! Keep it up and you’re most welcome, enjoy your holiday as well 🙃🙌🏾

I definitely related to this with my painting. I’ve got sketchbooks full of half-finished canvasses and ideas that never went anywhere. After reading this I can see I’ve been mistaking volume for progress. I’m committed to slowing down and focus on finishing the one thing that will move things forward. I want to look at my projects with fresh eyes and see what’s truly mine. Thank you for sharing this lovely and unexpected Monday newsletter Idris Elijah!

l just looked at my own unfinished projects folder and realized it’s basically a mirror of your year. Half-written essays, a couple of story drafts and a series of journal entries I never finished. This makes me want to slow down and choose the one thing that feels essential. I’m going to focus on finishing a short story this week by using your approach as my guide. Thank you for the insights Idris Elijah and have a great holiday!

I appreciate how honest you are about struggling despite being motivated and creative. It’s comforting to hear that someone else has been stuck in the fog of too many ideas and that clarity can pull you out. I’m taking your advice to heart. This week I’ll ask myself what story only I can tell and let that guide which project I actually finish. This is a great way to start September. Thanks Idris and Happy Labor Day!
