It’s interesting how your newsletters really help me reflect on my life! From talking about my fear of flying to remembering a former best friend that left me and now my lifelong journey with procrastination! This has been an issue for me as long as I can remember. I was notorious with my friends in school for waiting till the last minute to study for an exam or write a paper. And it’s the same thing at work with deadlines. I’m clearly a chaos lover!! Reading this helped me see I already have the tools to make this better. Especially my supportive best friend and the ability to break tasks down into manageable pieces. Reading this is a sign to work on this starting today. Thank you Idris Elijah!
I’m glad my newsletters help you reflect on your life. That’s one of my goals with this whole thing, so I’m pleased that seems to be the case for you. 🙃 You do have the tools, and it’s fantastic you have a support system and the ability to break down your tasks. I know you will do great things in your life. Much kudos 👏🏾😊
The one task I’ve been avoiding is going through all the belongings in my home and clearing out space for a move this summer. I think about this almost every day! Having a young daughter with too many clothes and me not being good about throwing things away has led to an intimidating amount of belongings to go through. Time is an issue with taking care of my daughter and having a full time job. I really like the advice about managing time and breaking this down into small tasks. I’ve already thought about the idea of making four piles. Keep, sell, donate, trash. I don't have to do this in a day but I do have to get started! I appreciate you mentioning self-compassion. I promise to not be so hard on myself moving forward. I’m feeling inspired after this read. Many thanks Idris Elijah!
That’s a tough task the get through, but I’m glad you’ve shifted your mindset to getting started. Creating four piles is a great idea and will make the process so much easier especially with everything you have going on. And I love your recognition of self-compassion. It’s so important! I’ll metaphorically will hold you accountable to that promise 👏🏾😉
Admittedly I procrastinate about things that feel overwhelming to me. I have a list of 8-10 goals that will be life changing in the best way. Wanting to improve and do better is an important first step in truly unlocking your potential. Fortunately I have an outstanding best friend who holds me accountable and wants nothing but the best for me always. And a small circle of loved ones who do the same. I’m gonna start with the SMART goals and breaking these tasks down. Great content as always. Thank you Idris!
Picking something to start with is a great first step. I’m glad that you have a support system around you. That always makes these things easier. You got this Brian!
I learned something new today! I’m a Dreamer procrastinator. I’m so lost in thinking about the future at times and what could be that I sometimes forget about the here and now. The journaling I started doing from reading your newsletter has really helped me get more into the gratitude of right now. I’m seeing that it’s all interconnected because the now is where we do the work to achieve our goals for a brighter tomorrow. You’ve mentioned an upcoming course again. Will this be part of it? It’s fascinating learning about procrastination because taking a tiny step every day towards a dream can add up to it coming true tomorrow. Bright and optimistic read Idris Elijah!
I’m so glad you discovered that you’re a Dreamer. Kudos for continuing to journal and shore up your gratitude. That’s exceptional and I’m so proud of you! 🙌🏾 And in the course I give science-backed techniques to build good habits, and seeing as Procrastination is a habit, I don’t see why you couldn’t use some of the techniques to be more purposeful. More details to come. Pleased you enjoyed the newsletter Jody, love hearing from you 🤗
