For the me the shower is my boardroom. All of my best ideas come to me while I’m shampooing! My days can be very hectic and that’s my most relaxing “me” time. I guess in a way shampoo is my muse lol. I think there’s a parenting parallel here too. There are so many days when I just show up without knowing what the “idea” is and then something beautiful happens. Just showing up as a mom has led to some of the most wonderful moments with my daughter. Thank you for the reflective and empowering read Idris Elijah!
I totally didn’t even think about that, the shower can be a boardroom. A place where ideas just pop up out of no where. As think when we’re at our most hectic, the contrast to something like a shower can reap many a great idea. Love the parallel you drew from parenting. Beneficial and practical. Just gotta show up. 🙌🏾
Hi Idris Elijah! I just read your latest newsletter and was going to leave a comment there like I always do but it said only paid subscribers could do it for that one. Just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed reading about the weekly structure you created for yourself. It feels like a great way to stay in touch with your goals, your energy and your joy. Time is moving so fast for me as a working mom. Thank you for showing a way to stay grounded and keep the important stuff from getting lost in all the noise. Have a great weekend!
Hey Maria, yeah I’m so sorry about that. I must have hit the wrong radio button last night while scheduling today’s newsletter. So glad you still managed to share your awesome insights! Thank you! 🙏🏾 and you are most welcome, have a great weekend as well 🤗
I write regularly but I’ve had a few days where I just stare at the screen and nothing happens. I love the reminder to let the idea come through instead of forcing it. It’s comforting to learn that incubation is part of the work. That letting go can actually make space for something real to emerge. And now I definitely want to check out The Dip by Seth Godin. That line about wanting to be the best to truly stand out, not out of ego, has me curious. I’m adding this to my reading list now. Thank you for all the engaging insights today Idris Elijah!!
Love your insight! And yes check out The Dip, such a powerful short read. So much juice in that book about know when to quit, when to persevere, and when to not even try. And you’re welcome, always a pleasure 🤓🙌🏾
I’ve been trying to get back into playing guitar and writing songs lately so this really spoke to me. Sometimes I feel stuck and start overthinking everything but your breakdown makes it feel more manageable. Getting stuck isn’t a sign to quit. It’s all a part of the rhythm. I’m going to work on being more intentional with how I move through those phases instead of rushing to fix it. Less stress and more trusting the process. Really enjoyed this newsletter Idris Elijah!
You really nailed the feeling of being on top of the world creatively one day and completely lost the next. I appreciate how you normalized that and then gave real, actionable steps for getting back into the flow. It’s a great reminder that even when we feel empty, we’re actually just in incubation. Still cooking. Still becoming. I’ve been living in Step 3 for a minute now but I’m excited for all the possibilities with Steps 4 and 5. Thanks for the very inspiring and thoughtful read Idris!
You’re most welcome Brian! And I love the insight here. Never thought this concept could be applied to life in general and where we tend to wade. Very interesting 🧐
