We’ve all had that moment: staring at a new skill we want to learn, a tool we want to master, or a craft we want to finally take seriously—only to feel completely paralyzed.
It’s really encouraging to hear that you flailed at first too. Sometimes people only share their wins and it makes the rest of us feel like we’re behind. But you’ve been real about the struggle. For me it’s about figuring how to turn the things I’m most passionate about (my art) into a steady income stream so that I can choose whether I want to be in a 9-5 anymore. Maybe not give it up entirely but have the freedom to choose. I learned in your ebook yesterday about needing a compass much more than a map to give myself direction and you’re really touching on this idea here. Thank you for all the inspiring and helpful content Idris Elijah!
Absolutely! I aim to be 100% with all of you. And yes, having the choice is ideal. Having the freedom to choose is ideal. I really want that for you Jody. So glad you’re getting a ton of value from the ebook. Warms my freakin heart! ❤️🤩
You really showed me how much “comparison” has drowned out my voice in the past. It’s not that I can’t do it, it’s that I haven’t committed to one direction long enough. What you said makes so much sense because we are living in a double edged sword world of too many options and distractions. You’re quieting the noise around us with this perspective and I keep going back to the word “clarity”. Clarity is the key to direction. Thank you for starting my Monday morning on the right note Idris!
Love how you framed clarity as the difference between spinning in circles and building momentum. That resonates so much with where I am right now. This makes me want to go back and finish one of my half-done stories instead of jumping into a shiny new one. Thanks for being so open about your own creative struggles, Idris Elijah. Just hearing someone else admit they went through the same overwhelm and came out the other side makes me feel like I can too!
I can relate to the flailing part! I’ve been trying to learn piano for months and I keep downloading sheet music and tutorials but I can’t get myself to practice consistently. You’ve pointed out here that it’s not about more resources, it’s about having a structure in place. A repeatable system. I’ll focus on the right 20% like you suggest so that I’m not all over the place with my learning. Let’s see how it goes and thank you for the insights Idris Elijah!
Aye! I didn’t know you were learning piano! Same here! What an excellent skill to learn. And yes, you want to focus on the 20% that’s accounts for 80% of the work. I’m rooting for you! 🙌🏾🤗

You are so welcome Brian! So glad you noticed the continued theme of clarity this week. Stay tuned. 😁

Excellent! I know you can do it! And yes, I feel you guys need to see the struggle. It’s real. But not infinite. You are most welcome! 🙏🏾🤗
