The Apple Store story was inspiring and I really admire the persistence it took to keep applying for 4 years until you got your dream job. That level of dedication is rare and it makes your perspective on persistence so authentic. You did a great job showing that persistence creates what looks like talent. I especially connected with the idea of letting go and trusting the universe while still putting in the reps. Iโm going to start using your 5-minute minimum rule to keep momentum going even on my low-energy days. Thanks for the fresh perspective today Idris!
Thank you so much Brian for your wonderful insight today. And your kind words are so appreciated. ๐ Definitely integrate the 5-minute rule into your life, especially on the though days, and watch the transformation! Have a great weekend! ๐๐๐พ
This is such a refreshing take on talent vs. persistence. Iโve always admired people who seem naturally gifted but you showed that behind most of that is years of invisible work. Iโm going to start celebrating my reps more instead of getting discouraged when results donโt come fast enough. Even minimum effort on tough days builds momentum. I know my daughter will benefit from this lesson too. Thank you for writing this Idris Elijah, itโs one of your best!
You should totally celebrate your reps! Such a great idea. And the most important thing you said is that even minimum effort on tough days builds momentum and it also continues the compounding effect. Thank you so much for your kind words, means a lot Maria ๐ฅฐ๐๐พ Have a great weekend!
Your Apple Store story was such a powerful way to illustrate persistence. It mirrors what writing feels like for me. Most people donโt see the drafts, the rewrites or the years it takes to find your voice. This newsletter reminded me to focus on showing up every day, even if itโs just 5 minutes, because thatโs where real growth comes from. I can definitely commit to 5 minutes! Thanks for being so open about your own journey, it makes persistence feel less abstract and more real. Have a great weekend Idris Elijah!!
Right, no one sees the drafts, all the research, and experience acquired over years. To benefit we should at the very least spend 5 minutes doing something thatโs supposed to bring us joy. But sometimes writing and creating in general isnโt joyful, itโs hard and messy. But in that you find it all. So pleased I was able to make persistent feel more real for you. Have a great weekend as well Chloe! ๐๐๐พ
This really spoke to me as someone who loves and makes music. People often assume talent is everything, but the truth is the late nights of practice, the gigs where no one shows up and the hours spent learning scales are what makes the difference. You showed how persistence is the real superpower and thatโs something we can all take away no matter what we are pursuing in life. We need to keep showing up, even for 5 minutes on our off days. Thank you for the great insights today Idris Elijah!
