As a songwriter, I’m constantly chasing the next hook or verse. This was a great reminder that the space between the notes matters just as much as the notes themselves. You’ve shown us how we need to slow down in our own art. I want my creative work to last, not just hit the algorithm for a week and vanish. I’m going to slow down this weekend and actually notice where I am right now. Another insightful read Idris Elijah!
What brilliant insight Brooke! I love how you say the space in between notes. The silence can be so profound if used wisely. You are most welcome, have a great weekend! 😃🙌🏾
The Apple analogy really stuck with me. Quality over speed. I like how you tied this back to Steve Jobs. The “intersection of technology and liberal arts” is such a beautiful way to look at life, not just products. Thank you for reminding me that slow progress is still progress. Sometimes we don’t see the change until one day we wake up and it’s there. I enjoyed this important and motivating topic Idris!
I got a little teary eyed reading this. I realized my daughter won’t remember how fast I answered emails at work but she will remember when I slowed down to make music with her or just go outside and play. Parenting can sometimes feel like one long to-do list so I needed this reminder that the in-between moments are where the magic is. It’s so easy to wish for the next stage of parenting but I know I’ll miss these early days so much when she’s older. Thank you for this important reminder Idris Elijah!!
You’re most welcome Maria. So glad you found the power in the message I was trying to pass along. Your insights really take it to the next level. Thank you 😊🙏🏾
It’s funny because slowing down almost feels like the opposite of progress until you remember that rushing usually just leads to mistakes and burnout. I’ve been pushing to finish a story I’ve been writing but your words reminded me that great stories don’t grow in a rush. They need time to breathe. Reading this newsletter actually made me close my laptop and go sit outside for a few minutes. I think that’s a win. Thank you for the great read again Idris Elijah!

You’re very welcome Chloe. It’s so good to get outside every now and then. Definitely a win. 🥇
