My daughter and I would rush through learning new dance routines because it felt like we were doing more but we weren’t really improving. Lately we’ve been repeating the same parts until they feel naturaland it’s made such a difference. It’s not as exciting in the moment but it feels more rewarding when it actually sticks. Thank you Idris Elijah for the reminder to slow down without feeling like I’m falling behind and Happy Friday to you!

You’re most welcome, Maria! Love that you get a chance to sit in your technique a little longer. When something feels natural, that’s how you know you got it. Beautiful!! Have a great weekend! 🤩🤩🤩

The section on trained perception is real. I used to finish a song and just feel like something was off but couldn’t pinpoint it. Now after sticking with shorter, focused ideas like you’ve suggested in past newsletters, I’m actually hearing the problems. Like melody tension, spacing and transitions. It’s not perfect but it’s not guesswork anymore either. That gap between taste and skill used to frustrate me. Now I see it as a sign I’m in the process. Thank you Idris Elijah for all the helpful tips and enjoy your weekend!

I’m happy everything is coming together for you with the main ideas I keep repeating. Closing the gap between taste and skill is hard, but rewarding. And I see you’re on the right path. Incredible! Have a great weekend!! 🤩🤩🤩

The distinction between recognition and usability is so important. It’s easy to confuse familiarity with understanding, especially when you’re consuming a lot. I’ve noticed that when I slow down and really work through a single idea, my writing becomes more deliberate. Less filler, more intention. It’s not just about producing more, it’s about producing something I actually stand behind. Thank you Idris Elijah for reframing fast so practically and have a great weekend!

This felt like a direct follow-up to the reps idea you talked about recently. I realized I’ve been putting in effort but not really stacking anything. Just cycling through information and calling it progress. The question “what am I rushing past?” is the one I most need to remember. I already know the answer for myself, which probably means that’s exactly where I need to sit a little longer. Slowing down doesn’t feel natural yet but I can see how that’s the shift towards progress. Thank you Idris for the consistent inspiration and Happy Friday!

I used to think my inconsistency meant I lacked ability but really I just wasn’t staying with a subject long enough. Lately I’ve been doing studies of the same form over and over and I can literally feel my eye changing. Edges, light and proportion are all becoming clearer. Not because I suddenly became talented but because I stopped jumping around. This newsletter gave language to that shift. Thank you for another enjoyable read Idris Elijah and Happy Friday to you!

Clarity is what you have now. Wow! Incredible! You’re seeing what I talk about for yourself in your creative medium. That’s outstanding! Keep it up and would love to see some of your work. Love paintings and art of that medium! And happy Friday! 🤩🤩🤩
