I enjoyed reading this because between my 9-5, raising a daughter and learning dance together, I’ve often wondered if I was spreading myself too thin. I liked the idea that different interests don’t automatically mean you’re unfocused. I think they’re all helping us grow in different ways without us realizing it. Thank you Idris Elijah for another newsletter that gave me a fresh perspective!

The part about music helping you feel the center is my biggest takeaway here. I’ve always thought of music as separate from everything else I enjoy but now I’m wondering if it’s just another way I’ve been trying to understand the same ideas. I don’t know what my center is yet but this gave me a better question to ask than “Which interest should I give up?” Thank you Idris Elijah for giving me something important to consider!

You’re most welcome!! I don’t like the idea of giving up. I like the idea of setting up. I got my now-focused things, but as I start and finish, eventually I’ll get there. Plus, you have to fall in love with the journey. 🤩🤗🤩

I’ve spent a lot of time wondering if having so many different interests meant I was never going to figure out what I was supposed to do. The idea that maybe the problem isn’t the interests but not having a center to connect them is the key. I think I’m going to spend some time with that writing exercise because I’m genuinely curious what answer I’d end up with. Thank you Idris for sharing so much valuable content with us!

I like the image of bricks needing architecture. Painting has always felt like one piece of who I am but I’ve never really asked what it’s pointing toward underneath. Perhaps the canvas isn’t the destination at all, it’s just one way of exploring the bigger question. That’s an idea I’ll probably be sitting with for a while. Thank you Idris Elijah for another enjoyable read!

I love that for you, that perhaps the canvas isn’t the destination. You’re most welcome, Jody! 🤗🤗🤗

I have folders full of writing ideas that don’t seem related until I step back and look at them together. This newsletter made me wonder if they were never random in the first place. Maybe I’ve been collecting pieces of the same puzzle without realizing it. That’s a pretty encouraging thought to walk away with. Thank you Idris Elijah for giving me something new to think about today!

You’re most welcome! I love that thought—you’ve been collecting pieces of the same puzzle without realizing it. That’s what I call a body of work forming. Brilliant!! 🤩🤩🤩
