I think I still sometimes fall into that trap of thinking I need a lot of time or energy to really learn something properly and that’s just not realistic most days. This idea of focusing on something usable instead of perfect fits so much better with how my life actually works right now. I can sit down, focus and build something small and real without overcomplicating it. Thank you for this Idris Elijah, it makes things feel a lot more doable! Happy Friday to you!
You’re exactly right! Thinking you need a bunch of time and energy to do something isn’t realistic. It’s more like you steal moments for yourself here and there. To work on that one thing. A small thing. Those stolen moments add up. Have a great weekend! 🤗🤗🤗
This explains why I’ve gotten stuck more times than I can count. I’ll open a session thinking I need to level up everything at once (sound design, arrangement, mixing) and it just kills the momentum. Framing it as “get one thing working” instead of “make it great” is a completely different approach. I could’ve finished way more songs if I thought like this earlier. I’m gonna try this on my next session. Just build something that holds up, nothing extra. Thank you Idris Elijah for these tips and enjoy your weekend!
I think as creative we have this need to build with speed, which results in us trying to do everything at once. And you’re absolutely right, it does kill the momentum. You’re most welcome!! Have a great weekend!! 🤩🤩🤩
This helped reinforce a lot of what’s in your ebook. I understood the structure but I think I was still aiming too high too early without realizing it. Trying to get better instead of just producing something usable. The idea of defining one clear output and working toward that sounds simple but I can see how often I skip that step. I’m starting to understand that finishing something functional matters more than endlessly refining. Thank you Idris Elijah for connecting the dots for me and have a great weekend!
You’re exactly right! And when you try to produce something with usable level skills, you’re naturally getting better. And yeah, you still have to balance your aim, so that it’s not too high but also not too low. Just right with an edge of difficulty. Hope you have a great weekend! 🤗🤗🤗
I’ve been guilty of putting things off because in my head it felt like this huge, long commitment just to get decent at something. The usable vs mastery shift changes how I’m looking at things right now. I don’t need to be great. I just need to get something working, something real. I’m already thinking about a couple things I’ve been overthinking that I could just start and finish at a basic level. That feels a lot lighter. I appreciate these useful insights Idris and Happy Friday!
I’ve read enough of your work to know you’re always pushing toward simplicity but this one made me realize how much I complicate things on my own. I’ll sit with an idea and feel like I need to fully understand it or perfect it before I even move forward. The truth is, I’ve been avoiding that first usable version. Not because I can’t do it but because I’ve been holding myself to something higher than necessary. This gave me a different way in. Just make something real, then build from there. Thank you Idris Elijah for this much needed reminder and Happy Friday to you!
That’s a very interesting observation. Valid as hell! And you’re so right! You first have to just make something real. Then work it out, build from there. Creation is a process. One not taught. But learned with experience. You’re most welcome, Jody. Thank you! And have a great weekend! 🤩🤩🤩

A light loud is easy to carry. Exactly. Love that you picked up on that. Thanks, and have a great weekend! 🤗🤗🤗
