As a mom of a girl who’s really passionate about music and dance and so many other things, reading this means a lot. I’ve been trying to model for her what it looks like to pursue something with heart and consistency, even if it’s in small, daily ways. And she inspires me everyday to rediscover my childlike wonder and active curiosity to develop my own passions outside of my 9-5. Your words about habit over hype and joy over pressure really resonated with me and made me think differently about how to set and achieve goals. Thank you Idris Elijah and enjoy your weekend!

I absolutely adore your dynamic with your daughter. The fact that you can influence her and she can influence you is something beautiful. Of course, as the mom, you want to be an example. I don't have children yet, but hearing about you and your daughter inspires me to be the same with my children. I'm so happy she's inspiring you to pursue your own passions outside your 9-5. I think it's so important to have a fruitful life outside of work. That's certainly what you are working towards. Kudos Maria! Enjoy your weekend as well!

This was a powerful reminder that we’re not necessarily distracted, we’re just sifting through a lot of noise to see what really matters. I really appreciated the gentle nudge back toward habits and personal goals. It made me pause and reevaluate whether my daily actions are in line with the life I actually want. We really can have too many tabs open, both mentally and emotionally. It’s time for a content diet, one I’ve been thinking about for some time. Thanks for all the wisdom and motivation Idris!

You're most welcome Brian! A helpful reminder indeed. God speed on your content diet. You'll find it frees up a lot of time for other things in your life that are just as, if not more, important. You got this!

What a morning! I came here for some personal development advice and now I want to delete half my apps lol (But not Substack!) But seriously, you did a great job showing that distraction is less about being unfocused and more about being overloaded. I think we all feel this way with so much seemingly flashy content out there. But a truly fulfilling life doesn’t need to be flashy. Comfort over chaos has always been my goal. And it doesn’t need to be perfect. Real progress comes from consistent daily habits that align with our goals. So simple yet so true! A very enjoyable read Idris Elijah!

Ahahahahahahah, half your apps? That's insane! 😜 And thank you for your kind words, you're absolutely right. Lots of flashy content out there, and life doesn't have to be flashy. It really is about real progress via consistent habits that align with your goals. Throw in a little curiosity and you're well on your way. Thank you so much!

As a fellow writer, this really hit home. You are so right when you say that there’s no perfect time, space or mood to create. You just have to sit down and do it. That was really sobering and motivating. I’ve been caught in the loop of overconsumption and second-guessing but this helped me remember that consistent action is the only way through. I’m so glad I read this today. Turns out I’m not lazy, I’m just trying to juggle 17 tabs and 42 life goals all at once. Thank you for the motivating read Idris Elijah!!

Right!?!? Indeed there is no perfect time, space, or mood to create. We have to get into the habit of creating regularly to achieve the things we desire most, which ultimately results from sitting fown and doing the damnt thing. I'm pleased you realized the key to getitng out of the overconsumption and second-guessing loop. 17 tabs, and 42 life goals, I felt that and you're most welcome! 🤗
