You really showed how self-awareness can open your eyes but also break your heart a little. I experienced this with my daughter’s father. It was exactly like you said, he could only meet me as far as he had met himself. And it turns out that wasn’t far enough. It was painful to have that realization but it saved me so much heartache in the long run. You did a great job of showing how healing doesn’t erase pain but it teaches you how to carry it differently so you can become better for yourself. I needed to be reminded of this today. Thank you Idris Elijah!
I’m so sorry you had to go through that with your daughter’s father. But I’m also glad you realized it when you did and you got away. Thank you for the kind words, really means a lot 🥹
You did a great job of showing how self-evolution can be lonely at times but so worth it if you’re willing to put in the work. Self-awareness and personal growth are emotionally complex. You helped me see that it’s so much more than having breakthroughs. Sometimes it’s about grief, change and letting go. And it’s a lifelong journey too. Thank you for putting these truths into words. Well done Idris!
I’ve been on this journey of self-awareness quietly for years and this newsletter made me feel seen. My favorite part was the idea of having high standards and low expectations. I’ve had a lot of friction and confusion in past relationships but with high standards and low expectations it will make it easier for me to stay true to who I am and be better for myself. Great newsletter today Idris Elijah!!
Outstanding! I’m pleased you feel seen with this issue and that you are on your way to self-awareness. For me, having high standards and low expectations was a game changer. I used to expect people to be as I am, but of course that was a losing game. Pleased you got some value out of this issue. Thank you for taking the time to check it out and you are so welcome. Thank you for the kind words 😊
The part about regret from the past truly hit me in ways I didn’t expect. I’ve spent years looking back at mistakes, whether it was not being fully present in relationships or missing out on moments I now wish I could do over. Your words gave me permission to forgive myself for things I couldn’t change. I’ve struggled with the idea that self-awareness means perfection, but you’ve shown me that it’s more about understanding, growing and ultimately forgiving myself. This was a powerful read Idris Elijah!
Regret is the worst, but forgiving yourself is sooo important. I’m so pleased you picked that up, and you have the permission you need to forgive yourself. You can’t blame yourself for what you didn’t know. But once you know, you have a choice to make. Kudos to you Jody. Your comment really touched me and reminded me why I write these newsletters. 🤗
