I’ve decided to finally commit to an abstract series I’ve been tinkering and I know it will help me grow even if I pivot later. There have been times that I’ve been stuck waiting for the perfect idea for a short story. I realized I’ve been losing months just thinking instead of doing. Now I’m going to commit to a series of short stories I’ve been scared to launch. Even if I pivot later, at least I’ll have momentum and practice. Which is exactly what you are talking about. I’ve sat on an idea for improving our workflow at my 9-5 for months, afraid it wouldn’t be the right solution. Now I realize the bigger mistake is not sharing it at all. I love your point that our voice carries more weight than the niche itself. I also love that showing my daughter that I’m willing to try, fail and pivot is more important than waiting for the perfect answer. It’s a great lesson for her to learn while she’s young.
