The average person receives 121 emails and 94 mobile notifications per day--a steady stream of interruptions, rarely allowing the mind to rest in true silence.
Hi Idris Elijah! I subscribed to your newsletter this week after reading your short story and some of your immersive content. I’ve enjoyed exploring so far! I agree with what you wrote today about silence. When I’m struggling to find answers to challenges I’m facing, I get silent. No devices, no music, no outside distractions. Just me and my thoughts. It helps clear my mind and gets me back on track. Just 10 minutes and my body feels more peaceful. All the best to you and thank you for the helpful tips!
Welcome Chloe! I’m pleased you’ve made your way through the content and have gotten some value. Your silence practice sounds exceptional and is exactly what I was suggesting in today’s newsletter. So glad to have you here! May it be pleasant and helpful. 🙃🙌🏾
Reading this reminded me of the connection between silence and nature. When I lived in San Diego I would go on long walks in the park or spend a few hours on the beach. I would always look for the most secluded areas where I could be at one with my thoughts. Nature reminds us that we are part of something greater than ourselves. Combining it with silence and stillness has always brought me peace and mindfulness. I’m going to work on finding ways to incorporate silence and nature into my routine and nourish my body and spirit more through your suggestions. Great content Idris!
That’s wonderful! There certainly is a connecting between nature and silence. The stillness one can gain from both can be life changing. In a state of stillness that’s where the magic happens. That’s where we are able to dive deep into our being and pull out some incredible insights.
I commented in one of your previous newsletters about how removing Facebook from my life has improved my confidence. It has also helped me feel more peaceful! Reading your newsletter just now made me see that staying off Facebook has brought some much needed silence into my day. No constant pressure to respond to people I don’t even want to talk to! And no endless noise. I’m going to look for other ways I can bring silence into my life. The 5 Minute Mindful Silence is a great idea because we can all find 5 minutes in our day to improve our overall health. Thank you Idris Elijah!
Yes, I remember you mentioning that you removed Facebook from your life. You also make a valid point that removing oneself from social media can bring in a certain type of silence that can be even more rewarding. So glad you found value in this newsletter. We all definitely can find 5 minutes in our day to improve our overall health. So many benefits with silence. 😄🙌🏾
You’ve helped me with my difficult coworker and I’ve been working on the pause and my assertiveness while at work. I’ve seen some improvements! She is still who she is but my responses are much better now. And because of that she can no longer get the reactions out of me like she got in the past. When I read today’s newsletter I realized that the inner work really begins before I start work each day. I can find focus and peace in the morning through the silence challenge and then be more prepared for whatever the work day brings. I enjoyed this topic and thank you for shining a light on silence Idris Elijah!
Yes, I remember you mentioning that bothersome coworker a few times, and I’m glad the situation is under control and you’ve done the work to develop yourself and look at your rewards! You’re coworker may not have changed, but you have. You’ve moved on to higher states of consciousness and that is right on. And you’re right, the inner work does start before the day. Before the volume of ambient noise is turned up. I’m so pleased with how far you’ve come Maria. Impressive 🤗
I’m so glad I read this newsletter today! As you may know, I started doing journaling after reading your newsletter on Emotional Intelligence. I love the idea of the 5-Minute Mindful Silence before I start my journal entries. I haven’t been doing that but think it’s a good idea for better mindfulness and to be fully present while journaling. I’d also like to do this before painting, something else I talked about in the community. Looking forward to trying it out. Wonderful tips today Idris Elijah!
Yes, I remember when you mentioned starting on your journaling journey, and I think implementing the 5-Minute Mindful Silence before you start your journal entries is a brilliant idea! Love the fact that you are innovating with the tips and techniques shared in the newsletters. And using it before you sit down to paint is also very interesting. Love hearing from you Jody! 😊🙌🏾
