I’ve been hard on myself for switching paths so much but reading this helped me see the progress I’ve been making all this time. I love when you described pivoting not as failure but part of the process. I feel much less behind now! Thank you for sharing your story Idris Elijah and again congratulations on all the progress you’ve made with this newsletter!

The part about vision really stuck with me. I started reading 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson after your suggestion and there’s a whole thread in there about taking responsibility for your own direction, even if it’s unclear at first. This newsletter felt like the practical and lived version of that. Trying different paths, learning as you go and slowly shaping a vision you believe in. That resonates with me. Thank you for discussing this topic so well today Idris Elijah!

I enjoyed reading about your journey and you made the idea of figuring it out much less overwhelming. It’s so inspiring how you never let detours or setbacks get you off track for long. I’ve been stuck in that space at times between wanting to start something and not knowing where to begin and this reminded me that starting messy is still starting. My favorite part is when you say to “do it with your whole chest” no matter what you choose to do. I’ve been tasting the idea of being in the music industry, in many ways a return to my first love many years ago. You’ve given me a push to stop overthinking and just start. Thanks for another empowering newsletter Idris!

I appreciate the kind words. Love that you caught that. Do it with your whole chest. You have to, otherwise why are you doing something? Just for the idea of a bigger paycheck? Nope. You have to want it, and do it to the limit of your capabilities. If you want to be in the music industry, you better do it with your whole chest. 😉🙌🏾

I’ve been in pivot mode for what feels like forever but I don’t feel guilty about it after reading about your journey. I’m actually taking a little beach trip soon with my daughter and I’m planning to use that quiet time to really sit with my vision and see where I want this next chapter to go. Lately I’ve been testing the waters with becoming a chef. It’s something I’ve always loved but never thought I could actually turn into a business. But the idea of creating something on my own terms and having more time with my daughter too? That’s the dream! Thank you for sharing your story and giving me something to think about Idris Elijah!!
