I love this! It’s wild how effective a walk can be for solving problems. I’ve had more breakthroughs walking around my block than at my desk. It makes me wonder what our workplaces would look like if walking meetings became the norm instead of the exception. You have a way of making science feel personal and doable. I’m definitely taking more walks after this Idris Elijah!

You make a very good point Jody, what would our workplaces look like if walking meetings were the norm instead of the exception. I think there would be more innovation, more thinking outside the box. Which would benefit everyone. Also, great idea to start walking more, you already know how easy it is to have breakthroughs during a walk. So I know you’ll continue to do great! 😊🙌🏾

I love how you blended Steve Jobs’ story with the science of walking. It made the research easy to apply to our own lives. I can confirm that some of my best ideas have come from walking. It’s a simple but powerful reminder that I needed. I’m definitely taking more walks this week. Thank you for this fascinating topic Idris Elijah!!

I’ve been walking an average of 10,000 steps a day for a few years and used to always say, “Ugh, I have to do my steps.” But I’ve learned from reading The Potential Paradox that “I get to do my steps.” Now I see how getting outside instead of pacing in my room could actually unlock way more creativity. Some of my best ideas have come from taking a walk. You’ve convinced me to reframe walking as a creative strategy, not just exercise. Thank you for this shift in thinking Idris!

You’re very welcome, Brian. I think the reframing your doing and changing up your environment when walking will do you wonders. Walking an average of 10K steps is outstanding! Keep it up! 👍🏾

You always manage to take familiar ideas and give them a new shine. I shared this with two good friends this morning. I already take walks with my daughter but would like to go on some walks with my two friends this summer. Do you think walking alone versus with someone changes the type of creativity you tap into? Very nice newsletter today Idris Elijah!

Ahahah, thanks for the compliment, Maria. Means a lot 🥹

Also, great question! Based on my research, walking with someone would result in even more creativity. Since you’re both walking and therefore benefiting from it. Not sure if there are any diminishing returns of you increase it to three or four people, but something to consider.

Thanks again, Maria 😊🙌🏾
