I’ve often said that music is my longest and strongest friend. I’ve been a student of music history for as long as I can remember and even created my own weekly Top 10 countdown show when I was a kid. I played piano and sang in choir and that love of music has stayed with me to this day. There’s something so powerful in you choosing to make music with just your iPad and AirPods. It’s not about what tools you have. It’s about finding the truth that is inside of you and sharing it with the world. I love how you’re creating that truth through your writing and music. It inspires me to do the same in my own life. Thank you Idris and a very Happy 4th to you!
You know I’m a mom with a demanding job so it’s easy to put my creative dreams on hold until the timing feels right. I like how you reminded me that the spark doesn’t wait. It just asks for us to listen. Music is huge in our house too. It’s how we connect, decompress and express joy. I’ve been thinking about creating music again, not just for myself but for my daughter to see what it looks like to follow your dreams. Thank you for sharing your dreams and your really cool song Idris Elijah! Happy 4th of July to you!
Please think about creating music again! I think that would be awesome for you and your daughter and it might awaken something in her as well. I’ve said this before, but you’re such an outstanding mother. Keep it up! 🤗 Happy 4th of July to you too!
I love how you frame creativity not just as art but as a way to heal, release and reach people. Even those we’ve lost. This made me want to I pick up my guitar and write a song! I enjoyed listening to what you shared too. My favorite part of this issue is the “Don’t Wait, Create” mantra. I can remember last July Fourth like it was yesterday. A year goes by so fast! No more waiting for the perfect moment. Thank you for the encouraging and insightful read today Idris Elijah!
You’re most welcome! Please write that song, and another, and another. 😉 And thank you, hope what I shared provided some context. Time is running out, and the perfect moment is always now.
I agree with Brooke about the “Dont wait, create” line. It sat with me in the best way. I’ve spent way too long outlining and overthinking instead of just writing, letting perfection get in the way of momentum. This was a powerful reminder that even stripped-down drafts, even 2-minute sessions, count. And most of all, they heal. Thank you for being so honest about your journey back to music Idris Elijah. It reminds me how much I need to continue to return to my writing. Happy 4th everyone!!
It’s a great line and so relevant. Too many of us are waiting for the perfect time. Risking so much in the process. Love your insights here too Chloe! Please get into it. If writing is your passion, you should be writing. 😉 Happy 4th!
